Imran Khan launches 'Banao Pakistan Certificates' allowing overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan's development and earn returns

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's government launches dollar dominated bond 'Banao Pakistan Certificates' for overseas Pakistanis. It is expected to raise $500 million in March 2019 as South Asia's second-biggest economy requires investment after averting a balance-of-payment crisis.

PTI tweeted 'The #PakistanBanaoCertificates is the first initiative of its kind for Overseas Pakistanis. They get a unique opportunity to safely invest their savings with higher profits rates than America, Europe, Gulf countries while helping build Pakistan'.

Pakistanis living overseas will now be able to buy Pakistan Banao Certificates (PBO) for 3 years and 5 years maturity with profit rates of 6.25 percent and 6.75 percent per annum respectively payable every six months.




Who is eligible for Pakistan Banao Certificates?

  • Overseas Pakistanis who posses a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
  • Overseas Pakistanis having National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
  • Holders of Pakistan Origin Card (POC).

How do I invest in Pakistan Banao Certificates?

PCB are offered via a specially designed Web-Portal. You will need to first register on the portal and provide your investment and bank account details. Once the funds are received in State Bank of Pakistan Account, you will be issued the certificates electronically.

How much can I invest?

There is no limit! However, the minimum investment amount is USD 5,000 (approximately £3,800).
